For this week’s article I wanted to talk about my first impression of ColourPop products I just received for my birthday! Yay!
Now, I have previously purchased liquid lipsticks from the Colourpop website, but in this specific order, I only purchased items new to my makeup kit.
Brand background: Siblings Laura Nelson and John Nelson founded a company called Seed Beauty just over two years ago. The first brand to be housed by Seed Beauty was ColourPop. This L.A. based cosmetics brand is PETA certified-Cruelty Free, and the majority of their products are vegan.
Return Policy: ColourPop will replace any items that may have been damaged during the shipping process as long as they are contacted within two weeks of the delivery date. Otherwise, they do not do refunds, returns, or exchanges for any other reasons.
Eyes: I ordered four Shock Pressed Pigments in the shades Luckfully, Coconut, Girl Power, and Snap Dragon. Two of shades have a “pearlized” finish, while two have a matte finish. The shadows that are labeled as “pearlized” mean there is a shimmer to the shadow.
Feel: All four shadows feel AMAZING. I can’t begin to explain how soft and creamy each one is. They blend easily on my hand, and on the eyelid as well. I used an angled shadow brush, and they blend like a dream. Recommendations from ColourPop on shadow application is to place the product on your lid with the tip of your finger for best color payoff.
Price point: Each of these shadows is five dollars. While that can be a little steep for some, the amount of product you get is totally worth it. I went through all of my palettes and shadows, and found that none of them had as much product in their pan. Each ColourPop shadow has .07 oz, while my NYX Avant Pop palette has shadows at .05 oz and my MannyMUA X Makeup Geek palette has shadows at .064 oz.
Packaging: The shadows come in their own sealable white pot with a twist off lid. This packaging is pretty, and easy for portable use. Many people like to de-pot their shadows and place them in a magnetized palette, but these shadows must stay sealed at all times. If the shadow is out in the open for a long period of time it will lose its creamy texture.
Pigment: The colors are bright and strong. I purchased three shades of blue-green tones, while Girl Power is like a burnt coral. The shadows are all buildable, depending how deep you would like your tone to be. I didn’t have any issues with streaky or patchy application.
Honestly, I’ve never quite felt an eyeshadow so creamy and blendable. In my opinion, it is worth its price point and hype. The only thing I’m not too fond of is the return policy and the individual packaging, though it will make my makeup bag less messy. So, I can overlook that small issue. Try ordering a few to experience it yourself! I received some free glosses with my order that were just as beautiful. Also, any orders over $30 have free shipping.
