Makeup really is a wonderful practice.
I use it almost every day and enjoy searching for the best products. What makes use even better is knowing exactly what your money is supporting.
The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) was created in 1996 by eight national animal protection groups. The CCIC created the Leaping Bunny Logo, which helps shoppers recognize companies that are abiding by these groups’ standards of cruelty free products. The goal for CCIC is to make shopping for animal friendly products easier and more trustworthy.
Many popular brands in the makeup community are listed on the Leaping Bunny website, as well search engines provided by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Some cruelty free lines include: Bite Beauty, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Melt, Milani, E.L.F. Cosmetics, and Urban Decay.
Jeffree Star runs his own makeup line out of Los Angeles, California. He has a deep love for animals and stands by his guarantee of making a great product that is not only cruelty free but vegan as well.
All of the manufacturers used by Jeffree Star Cosmetics do not affiliate with or use ingredients from businesses that test on animals. His liquid lipsticks are easily some of the best in the business, and apply effortlessly.
If you are into more of an organic makeup line, Lush Cosmetics is a great option. This company fights against animal testing, and utilizes fresh ingredients for their handmade products. Though the company is not local (Rio Grande Valley), purchases can be made online or at stores in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.
Lush also has a body lotion sold in packaging that is labeled Charity Pot. When purchased, 100 percent of the proceeds (except for the taxes) are donated towards humanitarian, environmental, and animal rights causes around the world.
E.L.F. Cosmetics can be found in Target or Walmart. This brand has a very low price point for makeup, but delivers some great options. The Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths are amazing, and only cost three dollars.
Also, if you are just taking your first steps into building your makeup collection, E.L.F Cosmetics allows you to try multiple products without breaking the bank. The line has everything from brushes, skin care, palettes, and collections.
