So, I want to revisit our convo about foundation in April.
After going through 15 foundations, I thought I had finally met my true match. I love my MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation. It’s my “night out” foundation. It can sometimes come out a little orange on my skin, but it gets the job done.
I have also grown to love the Loreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation. The first few times I used it, I didn’t like the way it looked on my skin – and I had bought the fairest shade, not realizing it wasn’t a match. Andie-from-a-year-ago, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!
It’s difficult enough to find a finish that is great for both your skin and your long work day. Many times you may like the way a foundation looks, but there are not enough shades in the line to match your complexion.
I’m a “to the point” kind of person. I follow directions and use products the way I’m directed to use them. Never in a million years would I have thought to mix foundations like a fabulous scientist to get what I needed.
So now I have found my perfect every day foundations! I found mixing the L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte with my Revlon Colorstay, which is a few shades too dark for my skin even on my tannest day (also don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it!). Both are 24-hour foundations, and mixing them has brought my face game to the next level.
How do you go about mixing? You can use a makeup spatula and pan or the back of your hand to blend them together. For my face, I like to use a larger dollop of light foundation with the darker one to create a color that matches my neutral tone.
You place the two dollops (to your hand or pan) to the size of your liking and then mix with a beauty blender, your finger, the handle of a makeup brush, or a spatula. Mix for a few seconds then…BAM! You are ready to apply to your face. It is so simple.
This is also a great way to make use of foundations you tried once that are now stockpiling in your room. It may seem like a lot of work, but once you get a good rhythm going, it won’t take up too much time. I do this every morning with a beauty blender, and it’s the truest my foundation has ever been.
