The Film: John Dies at the End

John Dies At The End is one of those rare movies that is simply made for a cult audience. The story revolves around two young men and their strange adventure – which involves other-worldly creatures, something called soy sauce (which is most definitely NOT the soy sauce you and I are accustomed to), and inter-dimensional travel(?).
The framework of the film has the main character David Wong (Chase Williamson) relating a fantastic tale to an old school investigative reporter named Arnie Blondestone (Paul Giamatti). As mentioned earlier, the tale is quite tall and unbelievable, and it takes a long time for Arnie to really wrap his mind around even the notion of entertaining any of what Wong says. Things start weird and stay weird, with a wry sense of humor along the way.
Jon is back to co-host this episode to help decode whatever the heck is going on in this flick. I’m not exactly sure the film succeeds at its goal, but dammit if director Don Coscarelli (Phantasm) didn’t put in the effort! There’s a lot going on, and it needs to be explored! So, gear up and join us as we delve deep into this alternate dimension called John Dies At The End!
