I am no stranger to subscription accounts. I think they are a wonderful thing when it is something you really love. I’ve been through a few subscriptions, but I generally I close them after receiving one or two packages. If my interest isn’t there, there isn’t a point to keeping them open. But who doesn’t love a gift to open every month?

I figured my obsession with makeup has gotten pretty uncontrollable, so why not give a beauty subscription a try? I’ve seen many YouTube MUAs (makeup artists) with ipsy subscriptions, so I wanted to test it out. In all honesty, I mistook it for a different subscription package, but oh well.

But, now that I have it, I think it is pretty great. For only $10 per month (so affordable) you get five beauty products, a cute makeup bag, and free shipping. My other subscriptions were $20 or more, and they didn’t give me items I could use often (I have 50+ nail polishes that I haven’t even opened! *sigh*).

The five included products can be sample size or full size, and they all fit in the small makeup bag. What is awesome is that it actually gives you enough of a sample to see if you even like the product.

Michelle Phan, a YouTube beauty personality who has over 8 million subscribers, created ipsy. She has over 1 billion views on her YouTube channel, and has been a member since 2006. Check out Michelle’s YouTube here, and the ipsy website here

Before making an account, you can take a short beauty quiz that gauges things like your skin tone and general makeup preferences. When your bag comes in, it is tailored to your distinct tastes and skin type. From what I understand, everyone gets the same bag, but with different products inside.

My August ipsy bag:

Item 1: Ciate London Paint Pot in the shade Dangerous Affair.

Ciate London Paint Pot
Ciate Mini Paint Pots retail for $9 at Sephora, so paying $10 per month with ipsy for a handful of products is a already a good deal

Item 2: Winky Lux Diamond Powder Foundation in the shade Light.

Winky Lux Diamond Powder
This Winky Lux Diamond Powder is certified Cruelty-Free, and yes, has real crushed diamonds in it

Item 3: It Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in the shade Black.

Item 4: Code 9 Neogen Gold Black Caviar Essence & Gold Tox Tightening Pack

This Neogen skin product is a deep moisturizer made with caviar essence that helps improve elasticity

Item 5: Marc Anthony True Professional Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco (Deep Hydrating Conditioning Treatment)

Everything came in an adorable white makeup bag with a girl on the front wearing a makeup tiara. So far, I love the diamond foundation, and I’m still trying out the eye liner. I’ll need some more time for the other products.

I signed up for the August bag a bit late, so I’m hoping I can update everyone earlier on the September bag. With all of these new products I think a giveaway should be in order? Comment below if you would be interested in some free products!
